Adaptive Physical Education (APE) Teacher
Description:
Provides physical education services to PreSchool through age twenty-two students at the Ashtabula County Educational Services Campus. Specifically providing instruction and services to students with emotional and physical disabilities, tailoring activities to meet individual needs. Assess students physical abilities and participate in the development of an individualized education plan and ensure students have access to inclusive and safe physical activities.
Job Requirements:
- Hold at least a Bachelor's Degree in Education and or a related field like physical education with the ability to earn a State Board of Education certification in Physical Education with an endorsement in APE.
- Successfully pass an FBI and BCI background check
- CPR and First Aide certification and or willingness to obtain
Skills and Knowledge:
- Create Lesson Plans, management of a classroom and organizing activities.
- Knowledge of child development with an understanding of how children develop physically and socially.
- Understanding or willingness to learn about various disabilities and thier impact on physical activity.
- Knowledge or willingness to learn about adapted physical education principals and practices.
- Proficient in adapting physical activities and sports for students with special needs.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Ability to develop innovative and engaging Physical and Education Programs.
- Familiarity with adaptive equipment and technology.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
